„The infamous Axis of Evil is back: Two years after the release of their debut 7“-record „I’ve got big feelings“ SABOTAGE, the four-piece Bielefeld/ Münster based hardcore-punk outfit featuring (former) members of ALPINIST, JUNGBLUTH, WEAK TIES, PATSY O’HARA and SICKMARK, deliver a fierce slap to the face with their debut full-length record — well, if you wanna call 17 minutes a full-length — that really packs a punch!
You get what you’ve been asking for and even a little bit more than that: The self-titled album, that was mixed and mastered by no other than Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios in the US, contains nine songs of straightforward, stripped-down yet varied and engaging no-bullshit hardcore with a distinct punk edge. Furious, fast parts constantly alternate with heavily grooving and more stomping ones. Expect galloping drums and primal guitar riffs meeting vicious, snarling vocals that will hit you like a full throttle slap in the face with a studded leather glove.
The musical mayhem you get to hear is enhanced by more or less implicit political as well as personal and intimate lyrics addressing topics like feminism, depression, growing old, loss and grief and the constant stream of bullshit that comes with dealing with life in a capitalist and patriarchal society you never seem and never wanted to fit in.
Think of bands like G.L.O.S.S., SLANT and WARTHOG peppered with a slight touch of toughness in the vein of PUNCH or TORSØ and you might get an impression of what SABOTAGE sound like.
